HOW TO CREATE A GMAIL (GOOGLE) ACCOUNT

Google Mail (Popularly known as Gmail) is a free, advertising-supported email service developed by Google. It is has been getting more famous after hitting more than a billion users as of last year February, 2016.

With a gmail account, you can possibly gain access to almost all google services/products for free. Free services such as Advanced search on Google, Google Map, YouTube Channel, Google Playstore on Android devices and on the web, Google Drive, Google Calender, Google+, Google Translator, Google Photos, Google Docs, Books, Blogger, Contact, Hangouts, Keep and many more. As Google will say: One Google account for everything Google.

Simply put, Gmail is an Electronic Mail (Email) Service Provider.

To create a Gmail account is easy, and you can do it either on a computer or on your smartphones (mobile phones).

Requirements:
For you to be able to create or open a Gmail account it requires that you own a mobile number which is going to be used as a means of verification or authentication.

Note: Without internet access you won't be able to gain access to your gmail account or any other email accounts you are having on other Email Service Providers.

HOW TO CREATE A GMAIL ACCOUNT (ON A COMPUTER):

Step 1: Opening your browser
Open your browser (either Google Chrome, Moxilla Firefox, Maxthon, Torch, Opera or any other browser on your PC).
Go to accounts.google.com or gmail.com and click on "Create  Account".

Step 2: Filling in the form
Next, you will be provided a form by Google, kindly fill it with your correct details and also make sure the mobile number you are to use is right there with you so as to be able to receive a text message (or voice call) for verification purpose.

A. Names: These involves both your First and Last name (though can be changed later).

B. Username: Whichever username you provide here will serve as your Google username in most of Google services and cannot be changed later on, so choose wisely. Also, you might be encountering "username not available" if the username you provided is already taken or really not available for use (Google Terms).

C. Password: You are to make use of passwords containing both alphabets and numbers, because Google won't accept just any password you provide due to the fact that when it comes to security, Google doesn't take a joke with it.

Note: Whichever password you are to provide should be very easy for you to remember at all times.

D. Birthday: It is advisable you use your actual birthday so as to avoid password or other pressing issues in the future.

E. Gender: This is actually left for you to choose whether to provide it or not but if you are to provide it Google won't be disclosing it to any third-party anyway, except you choose to disclose it yourself later on. For this this tutorial purpose, I have chose not to disclose mine.

F. Mobile Phone: You are advised to use a mobile number that is very important to you, that you won't be able to afford loosing. If you are to loose or misplace it, you can still retrieve it back.

This is very important because if you are to loose your password or have any issue with your account that you will be asked to verify yourself, you will be needing your phone number to help you redeem back your account at anytime.

G. Your current email address: If you are having any other email address/account, it is advisable you provide it. It goes a long way to helping you retrieve either your account or its password and also you get notifications concerning your gmail account on it.

Step 3: Accepting Google's Privacy and Terms
If you're very new to gmail, it is advisable you go through these Privacy and Terms so as to keep yourself on the safer side. To use Gmail, you have no other option but to accept the Privacy and Terms (Scroll down and click "Accept" or click "Cancel" to terminate the account process).

Step 4: Verifying your account
This is where you actually have to prove to Google that you own the mobile number you had provided in Step 2. You can verify your mobile number either by requesting for a text message or call verification.

Note: The flag icon displaying before your phone number should be your country's flag.

Step 5: Enter verification code
You will receive your verification code right away, though in most cases it takes up to but not more than 15 minutes to arrive. When you have received it, kindly enter it in the space provided. If the phone number you provided hasn't be used before, Google will then confirm your request.
